Default 17x11 the holy grail?

Why is it that I cannot find 17x11 wheels out there that are not like $1000.00 a piece? I want to go to a 315 tire or 305 tire and from what I can tell those will not fit on anything other than a 10.5 or 11 wheel. If you have 17x11 wheels what company did you get them from? Also am I right in assuming that the 17x11 will not work for the fronts. I cannot find anyone who is running those for front tires.

There should be a lot of 17x11 wheel choices that are under $1000/apiece (assuming you weren't just exaggerating for effect ). The 17x11 ZR1-style wheels come to mind - should be able to find those for a very reasonable price. Might contact Todd at Discount Tire and see what he can do for you.

Also, I know that there are a handful of guys running 315's on all 4 corners. Not sure what mods if any needed to be done to handle that size. I believe mitchntx, for one, was using 315's in front and rear - maybe contact him regarding what was required to make that work.

Contrary to popular belief, f-bodies can indeed handle very well. It's tough enough taking slack from the import crowd. Doesn't help getting similar views within the owner base itself. It is a pretty hefty car regardless though, and that means having as much meat under your wheel wells as possible. You can never have too much traction.

17x11s with 50mm offset will fit on the front with just a 7/32-1/4" spacer. From all the research I've done, I've heard of no other mods required. I'll have 17x11's on all four corners by the end of April at the latest. Currently waiting to see if the search for a 17x11 WS6 wheel manufacturer pans out and what the cost ends up being.

never said anything about the f-bod being a bad auto x car but i think the vast majority of owners drag (of soome sort) with their car so i was under the assumption this is what he was after i know fbods can handle well i just think they make better 1\4 cars

I am more of a rr than the 1/4. When I was looking I was finding 17x10 listing but not much in the 17x11. I would love to find something like my 2001 WS6 came with in a 17x11 but the ones that I find(fikse, HRE, ROH, ect...) are like $1000.00 each. I like the way a 315 tire looks and noticed that not many of you have the 17x11 up front, mostly 9.5 and 10's. I was not sure if that was because of a clearance issue or not. The other reason for staying with 17's is that I would like to lower the car in the future. Having 18's seems to complicate things more. If you have 17x11 which company did you choose? I have seen the TTII but I am not real sold on those.

yea, 17x11s will fit all day built right, on the front and rear of the Fbody.

Take a look at www.billetwheel.com Anything in the forged line, and signature series can be made in a 11". There wil be more options, and there are options already well under 1000

I'm running 17x11s in the front and rear. 275 Nitto's on the front and back (Street tire on front and Drags in the back) The rear tires are pretty wore out though, so I'm in the process of ordering up some 315s.

As far as rubbing issues, there aren't any.
