When we decide to do a wheel there is a lot of research put in to figure out if the wheel will be popular or not. As some have pointed out "there's a couple of wheels no one wants" that is just a personal preference. corvette owners may like something f body owners do not and vice versa.

Hopefully this will clear some questions up. :
Hey, I might have asked you once before.

Why can't you get a set of four C5 DD rims.....but plain, not yet chromed......from your manufacturer.

So I can then have them chromed by my own chrome shop? Right before they chrome plate a set, just tell them to put them in boxes and ship them. Seems like just a phone call to them to send a raw set.

^Being as they come from China I feel its not as easy as youd think. I assume they order them in large batches and not until they are low on inventory over here. It might be possible but probably not worth their trouble for 1 set of wheels. Their not custom in the least bit so I dont see it happening.

I would assume their chromed there as well. For the price theres no way they are casted over there, shipped here on a boat, and then chromed. I had a set of Oewheels on my old Camaro. The chrome shined and held up great until a Northeast winter. Dont think any chrome would hold up to salt/sand/and all the other **** they throw on our roads.

^The reason it came of is there are laws(even though its china) they cant use certain chemicals to chrome wheels, just like the east coast. they can not use certain chemicals which is used in quality chrome to keep it on.

Yup, they're made entirely in China, chrome and all. Thats why I want a set of bare rims. I have a company here in Lauderdale that does chrome plating for yachts. They get hammered all year round by salt water and I know people with yahcts that have 10 year old chrome plated stairs, railings, cleats, bumper rails, swim platforms, parts on fighting chairs, etc.......

The stuff is 100% perfect after 10 years. When its done right...it should last 50 years.

Thats who I want chroming my rims. If I go OEWheels.......I'll have to get some painted C5 DD and have them stripped...then chromed.

You may want to do a little research on that before bashing wheels from china. Almost every major car manufucture now makes most of there wheels in china. There really is no difference between wheels made in china, usa, or somewhere else in the world. you will always get what you pay for. There are factories in the usa that make horrible wheels as well as china, and italy.
And there are factories in all different countries that make extremely good quality wheels. Point being it does not matter any more what country there made in.

Out of all the crap i see china make and the quality of stuff us makes i would choose us. If you had a plane... Would you want cheap china landing gear no. This is why i dont wont some chepo rims that cost 15 bucks a rim to make. You can tell they are no usa quality there are imperfections in the black powder coating and does not look as smooth as other metal rims i have seen that are black which were made in the usa.

Landing gear and wheels are two whole different worlds. One, your going 700+ mph, the other, 70 mph. You're not making a very good fight. If you said you didn't want chinas rims because they are made there and you want to support the usa, then I can see that, but in this case, no. Btw, the imperfections don't usually come from the factory or manufacturer, they usually occur during shipping and packaging. So if it has a long ride (china to usa) then it will face a much higher risk of having imperfections. If you bought a wheel in the usa it could have been made last week, minimizing the risk of imperfections in the paint. Simple math, more time=more risk=more imperfections; less time=less risk=less imperfections. Then again there is the overall quality of the product, but that is minimal as to what I am trying to explain.

I actually did buy some and Im very happy! I had Oewheels on my old car and I would of bought them again. Was just looking for something different. Didnt like the weight, vette center caps, and was waiting for a wheel that was promised months ago and still isnt out. Cant please them all. For those bitching about chrome quality, I doubt you have even seen their wheels in person. If kept clean and out of harsh elements, they shine and last just like any others Ive seen. For the price there should really be no complaining. This thread should be deleted. The OP posted to basically start **** when he already knew the answer. No need to bash a sponsor boys.
