I'm an "old school" kind of guy, which influences how I want my cars to look, but I also like them to handle. I owned a '77 T/A for 24 years, and it always frustrated me that American Racing brought back the Torque Thrust D wheels, but didn't offer them in an 8.5" rim, in an offset that could be effectively fitted to the 2nd gen Firebirds.

However, now that they have their "custom shop", which offers special offsets, I think a set of 8.5" Torque Thrusts would look killer....

The year one wheels are hideous. What size are your snowflakes, 15x7 or 15x8(WS6 wheels)?

if your snowflakes have a lip on them they are 8" wide if no lip 7"
i saw a picture of a guy that had the spokes on some torq thrust 2's gold, might be too much though.

if u want to keep it old school throw some craigers on it, i dunno, not sure what your looking for

Hey, everbody has different tastes! In my opinion, just because a wheel looks really good in a 15" or 16" diameter, it doesn't mean that when the centers are filled out to a 17" or 18" wheel, they still have the good looks of and proportion of the 15" wheel. I kind of agree about the Year One wheels...there's too much "spoke", and not enough "lip"....

I say keep it classic, here are some ground rules. No spinners , 17" wheel or smaller, high profile tires, maybe sacrifice some grip for some White Lettered BFG Radial T/A's. Cragar, American Racing, Weld, and Centerline are usually great manufacturers of wheels for domestic's, especially old school muscle like a 2nd gen Bird that you have (lucky you!). Just my thoughts...

Check out Vintage Wheelworks. I put their V45 wheels on my 1970 Firebird. 17x8 in front and 17x9.5 in back. They work great with 245 45 17 & 275 40 17 for tires.

That Gold TA has way too much Gold going on and it's just looking over done.

As far as wheels go. Get four front GTA wheels that and old school TA's is a killer
look with out breaking the bank. If you need I even have a new set of center caps for you.

TT II's but then again I'm a fan of the 17" YO Snowflakes. I think alot of what makes those wheels hideous is that people don't match the tire size and ride height. I've seen some that looks like crap and some that look good. My 80 T/A will get a PTFB drop and a set one day and if this damn 2000 SS I bought doesn't stop tearing up an LS1 lol.
