Default car too low tallest tires that fit?

i am stationed in germany and they make you get your car inspected every year, last year when i bought my car they had taller tires on there and it passed inspection but i forgot what size they were. i currently have 275/45/17 tires on there now, and i need to raise the car about half inch to 1 inch just for inspection.

what are the tallest tires that will fit on the 17inch rims without rubbing the car or making it dangerous to drive. was looking at 225/55/17 but not sure if that is tall enough

i have a 00 camaro ss conv

thanks for the help in advance

Forget the tires, there are metal spacers that go between the spring coils, they are cheap but would do the job for a few days
