About 5-6 years ago I got BFG Geforce KD tires for my 17x11 rims out back. Last summer nearing the end of it, I noticed during a few rainstorms that cutting through standing water, the back end wasn't cutting through as well as it used to. I'm only NOW finally reaching the start of the wear bars.
So now I'm looking for a tire to live up to the great KD.
Car use is 80% street with track days depending on mood but when I do go, I tend to run a lot of hot laps. I think in the first 3 years of having the KD, I did 200+ 1/4 mile runs.
All told I think I put in 5 summers, lots of city and highway, burn outs etc, ran at track at anywhere from 15-22psi for these and 32 during daily driving. Car is full weight 3450 lbs and with me 3650lbs. give or take. Power is 392/406hp.
So I'm looking around late april or may for tires, any recommendations that fit the above?
So far Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta has caught my eye.
Also Kuhmo Ecsta off tirerack.com
I'd like to keep pricing reasonable as well since I'm going for all 4.

I'm subscribing to this thread for the same reasons. I'm looking to replace my 315 sumitomos (crappy tire, in my opinion), and I'm really eyeing the 285/40/17 Goodyear GSD3s. Why a 285? Well the 315 sumitomo are really narrow, and the 285 GSD3 is REALLY wide (from what I have found out). From the best info I have found while investigating, the difference between the two will be very slim.
Any input would be great.
Like the OP, I use my tires for street, track days (road tracks), 1-2 visits to the drag strip a year, and overall need a good performance tire with good grip, but also good tire life (the sumitomos were horrible here).
The GSD3s have wonderful reviews on tirerack, I'm just concerned biting the bullet on a 285 to replace a 315. I really wish the tire industry had tighter standards for tire sizes. Check out the size difference for GDD3s in a 315 vs Sumitomos 315: https://ls1tech.com/forums/wheels-ti...s-picture.html
Not only does the GSD3 look awesome, the tests look good, the reviews are great, and they appear to get much better wear. I'm willing to pay the much higher cost if I get mroe than 15-17K miles out of them (about what I got on the sumitomos).
