Default how to figure out backspacing for a smaller rim?

so I am working on a 69 opel gt to swap in a LS motor and bring it back to street legal
https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...9-opel-gt.html

As part of this process I am selling the slicks/skinnies currently a 15x12 or 13 rear and 15x4.5 fronts and would like to put a 15x10 rim out back and probably a 15x8 up front.

What measurements do I need to take off the old rims, or the vehicle to center the smaller rims in the wheel wells? I have read the stickies and didnt see how. any help would be most appreciated. Thank you.

Do you want the new wheels centered in the wheel wells or to sit the same way in relation to the fenders as the old wheels?

Same relation where the outside edge lines up with the fender

Easy, see pic below to determine backspacing. For your rears, subtract however much narrower you want to go... fronts, add the extra width. For example, a 12" wide wheel with a 6" backspacing will set in relation to the outer edge of the fenders as a 10" wide wheel with a 4" backspacing
