Default MT Street Radial II vs NT05R

I'm looking to go to a DR next year. The GSD3's on my car now dont hook very well on the street. Out of these two which would be best for traction on the street? I saw an article on a site were the two tires were compared and at the track the NT05R's were slightly faster but there was no street test of course. The test car I believe was a ls3 416 camaro that ran very low 11's.

Tire wear or wet traction isn't a concern. The car isnt daily driven and maybe taken out 10-20 times per year on nice days. I was thinking of just going to the M/T Street Radial but was hoping I didnt need to. My car put down 409rwhp years ago, probably making less now.

Both are real good grip street tires! Both will help you maintain better traction control on the street, best option is hard to decide lol hopefully some members with personal experiences on both of these tires will give you a hand, I have used BF Goodrich Street Radials and they have good grip on the street, I would also recommend them, but then again my car is stock.

i personally like the M/T too. they hook well and are on the softer side for street tires. you may wear them out daily driving

I have been trying to make the same decison. I have had the nt05r's for the past year and managed around 7k miles out of them. Even with as bald as they are now they work well with little heat. I think i am leanning towards the notto;s again. I have heard m/t's require more heat on the street.

Well it looks like they dont make the et street radial 2 in the size I want.

How do the nt05r feel and launch on the street?

I would like to run a set of the NTO5R myself.. I have considered nitto 555r.. But i dont like how small the 275 look. I also considered the Toyos as well.

I think the MT might be too much for me as i do somewhat daily drive my car, and do drive through rain as well.

I have the NT05r's on my car. No idea how much power I am making but it's on 14-15 lbs right now. I can't really comment on how well they hook because it is so cold here and I just got my car running about a month ago. I have tried heating them and launching from a stop but the tires just light up once boost hits. From a 50 roll, they still spin. From everything I have read on the tires, people making more HP than me seem to really like them. I am confident they will hook in warmer weather where the car will see most of it's time.

Mine are 315's btw and they look great on a 17x11 rim.

You might also want to check Toyo TQ drag radials. I recently switched to them and have been consistenly cutting almost a tenth quicker on the 60ft over the 555r, nt05r and bfg's. From what i heard the toyo's are on par with the MT's traction wise and last longer. They are also cheaper.

My car is a daily driver too btw, it has been cold and rainy all week and i havent had an issue with these toyo's. So far they do everything better than the 3 i mentioned.

How does your car hook on the street with those Toyo TQ's?

It hooks good. It would blow the nt05r off at full throttle. The 555r was pretty decent on the street for traction. Like i said the toyo seems to do everything better. On concrete road i can flat foot it from a stop without having to pedal, on blacktop just a quick little short burnout heats them up enough to mash on it from a dig.
