Default Sanded and Repolished My CCW Classics(pic heavy)

Almost time to put my classics back on for the warmer months. And decided they needed a good do over.

Before Shot

Lots of water spots, brake dust and ect.

A little bit of curb rash and hard scratches I'm going to try to take care of.

FYI I was terrified to take sand paper to my wheels, I really had to muster up some courage to do this lol.

320 grit dry on the curb rashed area, did this for about 45min wish I would have stuck with it and got some of the deeper spots, but like I said i was nervous.

Yes honey there is a wheel in the bathtub, lol.
Washing the wheel after the 320 dry

after the 320 dry getting ready for 600 wet on the curb rashed area

after the 600 wet on the curb rash, now its time to do the whole lip with 1500 wet.

After 1500 you can see how dull the lip is compared to the face(hasn't been touched at this point) curbed area looks 10x better. Now its time to do both the lip and face with 2000 wet.

This is after 2000 wet and I followed that up with a 3000 trizact. Im looking at this wheel thinking to myself OMG what have I done I screwed this up.

After a quick hand polish with a microfiber and mothers aluminum polish, my worries went away at this point.

Here is were all that curb rash and hard scratches were.

Done after polishing with the power cone and mothers.

1 down 3 to go, then back in the the garage till may when they will get a quick polish probably with Adams polish and then on the car again till November. Really happy how it turned out and the rest should turn out even better.

They turned out great. I pretty much did the same thing with my CCW wheels when I got them, although they weren't in that bad of shape. Welcome to the club.

How are the race versions on the street? Are they truely that much lighter than the street version to make it worth the risk?

Look great.

Those look awesome now. Do yourself a favor and get something to seal them with so that doesn't happen again. Makes maintaining them so much easier.

The only real difference between the street and race versions nowadays are the hardware and race versions are hub centric were on the street versions the cap makes them hub centric.

I personaly hate the ccw caps on classics they look out of place on this wheel.

You can now get the street versions with the swiss cheese option and steel lug inserts.

As far as weight between full swiss and no swiss, don't quote me but I really don't think its much maybe 1-1.5 lbs at most maybe even less?

I drive on these 7 months out of the year 65 miles a day and have had no issues with them on the street, I'm sure you don't want to slam into a huge pothole but thats with any rim. I love them don't car how played out they are.

Good info. I want a set to roadrace but the closest track is a good ways away so this is good news. Thanks.
