I put a set of the FK452's on mine just last week replacing the older F1's and they are not too bad. Find they really track the road so you really have to pay attention to the wheel. I haven't pushed these hard at all yet, other than a couple of little launches, but it is still too cold here to really try them out and see what they can handle.
I'm running the Falkens also, and they seem to come to life when its 70+ degrees. When it's cold, I just sit and spin, but once it gets warm and the road temp comes up, it makes the car feel slow since it's not spinning nearly as much. As far as handling, they do pretty well compared to the big name tires. You obviously won't handle as well as a higher end tire, but dollar for dollar, they are a great tire. I love mine and will buy another set when these wear out, unless Falken steps up their design.

I've had good experiences with Nitto NT05s. My only complaint was that they wear ridiculously fast. My next tire buy will probably be a set of NT-05Rs (for my daily driver!)
My 2000 SS came with Toyo Proxes T1-S tires on it (295/275) and I absolutely hate them... They don't corner for ****! I'm hesitant to try R888s even with all the good things I hear about them now.

Toyo R888 is my vote as well but treadlife will be on the short side.

I drove home from work today in some pretty heavy rain. I have to say that the FK452's handled wet road a whole lot better than I thought they would

I run the Yokohama Advan Neova AD08 on my Nissan and those tires are insane. As close to a DOT legal tire as you can run.

On the T/A, nothing gets traction. Nothing. I'm going to try Toyo Proxes TQ next since the NT05R are more expensive and people seem to like the Proxes more (even tho it's pretty much the same tire). If it doesn't handle well enough, R888 is what I'm doing all around.

FYI, the UGR Gallardos run the Toyo R888s, as well as the GTR guys, if that means anything to you.

I nearly bought the R888's or the R1-R's, but the budget wouldn't allow it. I did get the NT-05's. They do not hook up as well as a drag radial, but are much better than alot of street tires. Lateral grip is fantastic, although will not be up to R888 standards, but very good compared to most street tires. So far I have really liked them. Good choice for a weekend/summer car.

Sometimes (except for when it's monsooning outside of course), I wish I had bought these (or the full tread depth RA-1s) instead of the BFGs, despite the extra cost and lightning quick wear/pickup of EVERYTHING on the road, since they are the two best semi-streetable 100 treadwear donuts still made in 255/50-16 sizes.
