I don't know who owns these cars or what was done to fit the wheels and tires, but I don't think there's anything mullet (minus the bad paint on the 3rd gen) about them.

I am talking about narrowed rears and drag wheels and tires.

actually... PULLING the fender means the wheel was not flush, ROLLING the fender means the wheel is perfectly flush with the 1/4. Simply rolling the fender lip will make it so you don't have to have that hideous tucked in tire look but can still fit a thick tire without the tires getting sliced. I agree with you, I don't like to see tires sticking past the 1/4panel but i think a car that has a tire tucked too far under the car is equally as ugly.

Do you have a drag wheel/tire and narrowed rear combo? If so, post photos please. Stock type wheel/tire combo tucked is dumb and not the subject of the conversation. Chicago deep dish poking out is.

Wheels sticking out isn't mullet, it's mexi.

And I agree with others that tires sticking out look way better than those sunken drag cars.

Flushing the wheels and tires does involve rolling unless you want the Texas tilt. I'm not interested in drag racing anymore so that's not how I'm approaching my car.

I only bothered pulling my fenders because rolling the lip isn't enough to fit maximum tire under stock body skins. The outer fender and inner fender are welded together so they end up with about 3/8" gap between them on the inside. So basically, my inner fender skin is pulled to where the outer skin was. The car doesn't physically look any wider thoug since the fenders are so huge and bulbous already.

The wheels I put on my car are 18x8.5 but +13mm offset. It literally sits almost 2" wider all around the car. The width is weak in the rear but it's no different than the non-staggered Oem rep packages for the fbody. I also ordered a matching pair of 17x10's +28 and those are going to be another 9mm outboard. So, rolling and pulling was needed since I don't want mexipoke or the Texas tilt just to avoid rubbing.

Honestly, I don't care for fully tucked tires on stock fenders. They end up being sunken in too much and look like an old caprice with the half fender skirts

Lol at Texas tilt! That is EXACTLY what i am trying to help others avoid.

I notice the guys responding are not into narrowed rears and drag wheels.so why are you bother replying? You folks are totally missing the point.

I personally would never narrow the rear and tuck a stock type wheel. Flush is the only way to go. As for positive offset, wtf? That is mexi! gold *** daytons for you!

This is pretty interesting...
Gator I remember calling you a few years ago discussing your 325's you were running.

I like the tires under the car myself, but 325's on a Camaro is not easy unlesss you are cutting the inners. 295's make a big difference. I can say you guys with Trans Am's have it easy, you got an extra inch of wheel well to work with over the Camaro's.

I recently I saw a stock LT1 car w/ factory wheels, I thought how bad it looked with the tires 3" under the car, not to mention the 4x4 stance... Quite the opposite of the "Joe Dirt" (check out the movie) style w/ the wheels 6" out of the fenders.

I have some sympathy for those who use every inch of space & the sidewall bulges out a little, but my biggiest dislike is a 3.5" skinny that is barely under the car. I think this looks worse than anything. Maybe this can be the next topic. I can get 315/35's on the front tucked more than some of the 165's I see.

You Joe Dirt motherfuggers deserve the name calling. My peoples are mullet mexipoking homos. We should have hella flush spacers that come free with every drag wheel and narrowed rear purchase. I should get a group purchase of spring and wheel spacers to give us the Rubicon look.

Any interest?

It's all opinion based, everyones opinion is different.

Is your issue ONLY with narrowed rear end cars like this?

Because it seems that all the pictures people are posting are stock rear end cars trying to fit the widest wheel/tire combo, not narrowed rear ends.

upon careful consideration and the opinions of the mexipoke fans out there, I have come to the realization that I was wrong. Now while the point of this entire thread was to explain to guys that want to narrow the rear that if they want to lower their car after putting their Chicago deep dish wheel and 28" balloon tires on, they will need to run a 3" narrow and a 5.5" backspacing wheel to do so. Of course, we get the mexipokes in here provided their opinion, and now I have seen the light. I present you with my new and improved look.

Thank you guys.

The point of this thread is that for years I have heard guys cry about how they cant lower their cars and they have the Texas Tilt after getting advice from this site on wheel selection. Then it transformed into general mullet/mexipoke love-hate of stock width rearends. While we are on that subject, why do so many guys think they need these huge wide tires on these cars anyways? guys running 11-12 second passes and thinking they need 28x13.5 et drags are totally different issue that also drive me nutty.

Anyways, back to the mexipokes. I think it looks SICK!

I run a 1/4" spacer in the rear with the 295's. I will take the spacer out if I decide to run 325's in the future. There is no way that mine sits closer to the edge of quarter panel than yours if we have the same wheels and tires. The math doesn't lie.

Me: 3" narrowed per side with 5.5" BS and .25" spacer. You can subtract the thickness of the spacer from the 3" that the rear end was narrowed which would be like having a rear narrowed 2.75" per side.

You: 2.5" narrowed per side with 5.5" BS.

My wheel sits in .25" more from the edge of the quarter panel than yours.
