So long story short, I had to get a replacement wheel after my car got hit last month. The body shop ordered the wheel for me, and after getting the car home yesterday I noticed that the sidewall looked a little different compared to the rest of the tires, with just a touch less roundness, almost like it had a very very slight stretch. I measured the wheel width through the spokes and it came to roughly 10.5", and the other 3 wheels on the car came to 10". I thought the original size was a 9" width (along with the 11" version), and now that I look around ebay and the internet in general I'm seeing 17x9.5", so what gives with the extra .5" being added?? It's something I could live with, but I'd ideally rather have a full matching set of wheels instead of 3 @ 9" and 1 @ 9.5". Anyone have any idea?

ZR1 front wheels are 17 x 9.5 and 1996-99 Camaro SS wheels are 17 x 9. Sounds like what you have is SS wheels and your replacement is a ZR1 wheel.

Real ZR1 front wheels are 17x9.5 and are extremely rare, obviously.

The genuine GM SS wheels are 17x9.

17x9.5 wheels are aftermarket.

Dammit, figures! I just bought new tires a few months ago too so it's not like I can even justify getting wider tires for the rear. Oh well, I guess I'll just live with it for now :-/
