Default 15X8 what tires are available?

I'm looking for a high tread wear rated tire for my friends 69 Camaro. He currently has the original 14x6s on there and now that he has upgraded the suspension and is adding more power he needs some more tire. Its a year round daily driver. So all seasons would be best. thankw

I hate to say this, but IMHO, you're going to be very disappointed in the selection of 15" tires anymore. BFG Radial T/As or Cooper Cobras are probably your best (only) bets, unless you're comfortable with some "off brand" deals..

Thats what I told my friend and he didn't believe me so I posted on here for him. I told him to go to a minimum of a 16X8 so atleast he has our lame selection of stock size tires which isn't all that bad I just hate the narrowness. He'd be stepping up from a 215/70/14 to a 245/50/16 and that would greatly increase his handling capabilities but he's very set in keeping the stock rally look. I've tried to talk him into a nice 17" 5 spoke set up and he doesn't want any part of that.

I'm was running Riken Raptor ZRs 300 tread wear rating $432 for a set (cause its what I could afford at the time) and they had about 10k miles on them now and still look new.

Even the selection of 16" tires is becoming limited, as the OE manufacturers are stepping up to larger and larger tires. The 245/50/16s, once the darling of the 4th gen Camaros and Firebirds are even becoming limited, as I think only 2-3 tire companies make them any more. Secondly, on a first gen Camaro, the wheel fender wells are pretty cramped. Your friend will have to be VERY careful with the backspacing of his wheels, or resort to air shocks, to jack the rear up, for tire clearance..

they are stock wheels just stepping up from a 14 to 16" wheel. He has HD bilsteins on there now and that jacked up the back a fair amount. online tires .com has 3 pages of 245/50/16s which isn't bad. He can ride around on some BFG Sport comp 2s or similar. He doesn't want to go to a 17x9 which in my opinion is stupid. He's just limiting himself with what he can do. He's also talking about adding a 440hp 383 Stroker which then He'll really need some more tire.

Wait a minute.... Your thread title says "15x8 rims". Do you mean 15x8 or 16x8 rims? (there were no "stock" 15x8s ever offered on a 1st-3rd gen Camaro...)

sorry should have specified more. they are stock style 15X8 rallies. basically just steelies with a chrome cap from Classic industries. I'm trying to convince him to go from a 14 to a 16 instead of a 14 to a 15. The post was originally about 15x8s because he didn't believe me that there were no decent sized tires.

He's SOL if he doesn't want to run BFG's or Cooper Cobra's, there isn't really anything else out there. There are some others but there pretty much all just Cooper Cobra's with different side walls, Cooper makes a lot of private label tires including all of the non competition Mickey Thompson tires.
