And I haven't sat down to figure it out exactly, but even with the 3.73's and the rest bone stock... it was getting 28-29 MPG on average at various speeds. What blows me away is how gas in Iowa can be $1.71 or so for Super, over $2.00 in Columbus, an I get to Nevada/Cali/Oregon and it's $2.20+? What is going on? And gas has gone up quite a bit since then.

Is that the one where he put 93-97 taillights on it? Nice purchase!

Yes it does have the 93-97 tail lights and I like them! Now I just need to polish the the bird off the centerpiece so it's just black. Should looks sick from the back.

Future mods..... the works!

For now I've got LT's, offroad Y, and SLP dual dual going on it with stock TA/formula polished tips. I've got an LS6 intake coming, I'm stealing the ASP pulley off the SS, and obviously will have a lid and ported TB soon. That'll be the first wave this month.... then in the next couple months it will be heads/cam time along with some significant underhood appearance.

The car won't be stripped down at all like the SS. Interior will remain stock. The only questionable thing will be a roll bar, but that's still up in the air. That probably will have to happen when the heads/cam come. But I really want to enjoy this car for what it is, good daily driver, handles well and not have it sit like the SS because it's gone too far for daily driving.

"1 OF 26" needs the proper honeycomb lights back on it. Those LT1 lights make the car look old. Removing the firechicken in the middle is easy. Use some fingernail polish remover to get the main parts off as best as possible. The surface will haze when you do this, but its very easy to buff out.

The wheels look great! I'm still kinda partial to the rivets but I dig the way the GT Sports look. They look very classy. I like my 17's a lot.

And it sounds like you had one helluva trip. Sheesh, makes my little 6 hour jaunt from Dallas to Amarillo in my newly-purchased 79Z sound like child's play...

I like the 93-97 tail lights better. They can come apart unlike the honeycombs from what I hear. I'm thinking about trying to remove the red liner from the inside, and find a way to use some see threw purple that matches the car... so the tail lights blend in with the color of the car. That's a challenge right there.

I chose 1OF26 so it's a done deal now....

Sounds like I'll try polished calipers/purple brackets first. If I don't like them, I'll sell the calipers and just powdercoat the next set.

Tony, just because I drive a purple car doesn't mean I have nail polish remover! It was bad enough having to take my girlfriend her purse the other day. Sort of self conscious about hopping out of a purple car with a purse. I'll probaby just try acetone first.

Sheesh, makes my little 6 hour jaunt from Dallas to Amarillo in my newly-purchased 79Z sound like child's play...
Yeah well I was 500 miles from home and it felt like the home stretch. I called my buddy up and he was like is it possible to drive that long without sleep and not pass out? He was like dude you better pull over and get a hotel.... I was like.... I'm damn near home now.

I just checked local and Super is $2.43!

I want to add a hood at some point, and am stuck between WS6, Firehawk, and Raptor. I'm really leaning towards the Firehawk because it's different, more sleak which matches the formula better in my opinion, and everybody doesn't have one. What do you think?

Firehawk is the most rare and the sleakest. You have to cut your stock front bumper cover a bit for the Firehawk I believe.

I think the LT1 lights don't look as cool but to each their own.

I'm kinda partial to the WS6 hood. The Firehawk is cool but it doesn't really look mean like the WS6. Plus there is that guy that sales the WS6 hood with heat extractors that WOULD be sweet!!!

Man I can't believe you don't want the LS1 tail lights. They look much more modern to me I remember in my 93 I wanted some but couldn't touch them for less than 350! That License plate is the ****!!!! Wish I could think of a good one for my car???

Gotta head down there and check that thing out. I REALLY Like those rims...

firehawk hood is very cool, just not very aggressive compared to the others..so its really gonna be about what kind of look you are going for.

i had a 2000 firehawk last year and thought it was a very good looking car but i'm more into agrressive appearance stuff(duh, look at my camaro) so i kinda wished at the time i had a WS6 instead.

I think the sleek hood will look better on the formula. And I don't want it to look like any other WS6 out there.... so I'm going to go with the Raptor hood or Firehawk. I know the Firehawk will require cutting the front fascia a little, but that's no big deal. I actually, really like the way the stock hood looks....

The wheels and tires weigh in at fronts: 55 Rears: 57. The 17X11 TT2 and 315 Nitto was right around 54. So you're looking at 3-4lbs more weight per wheel/tire. The tires accounted for about 29lbs, so the wheels themselves were about 26-28. From what I recall, my stock 17X9 SS wheels were only 20-21lbs. But the stock firebird 16's with 235 tires were only 43lbs. The little additional weight is a small price to pay for these wheels. They're awesome!

For this you may want to check out a local professional lighting store. Theater gels (those things that are used to change the colors of spot lights) would work perfectly for that. Might take some hunting to find a color match, or 2-3 layers of a lighter color for a nice match, but it would work well. The gels are made for changing light color, and are made to stand up to heat.

Just a thought.

OctaneZ: Thanks for the lead. I will have two sets of headlights, so if I don't like it.... I'll get rid of them.

If you really want to be pimp, here is an idea I've always wanted to do:

Get the honeycomb tail lights, and build something inside of them to convert them to LED lights, with each honeycomb hexagon getting its own internal LED. That would look kick ***, especially if you could sequence the turn signals to sweep across them
