Default tire question for 18" rim

I am going to purchase a set of 18x9 smoothie IIs and need to know what size tire to get. When I spoke with DTD I originally was looking for 17x9 rims and was going to use 275/40/17 tires, they don't have smoothie IIs in that size so they bumped me up to the 18x9. The guy on the phone told me that the tires would be 275/35/18.

But when I go to the DTD website and look up the wheel and tire packages in 18", the tire that comes packaged with the 18x9 smoothie IIs is 245/40/18.

I know that both tires will fit, but which one would be better? which one would look normal? which one would provide the best handling?

The tires I am looking to get are the Falken FK451 so the 275/35/18 are $190 each and the 245/40/18 are only $138 each. So if the 2 sizes are basically the same I will get the 245s and save $200. any ideas or suggestions?

Why don't you look at the 18x10s for the rear and 18x9s in the front....it'll make your car look a lot more aggressive.

For 18x10s I would look at a 285-295/35/18 for the 18x9s I would look at 275/35/18

bucklwi1 the calculation you did man it was perfect you will save, plus 35 is to low....so go to the store and ask two tires one 35 and other 40 you will see that 40 has a good visual ...try it and let us know.

Good Luck....
