Default SS 17x9 wheels on Z28

I have a 2002 Z28 A4 with the stock 16x8 wheels and Eibach Pro kit. I am needing new tires and I want to replace the 16x8 wheels with the 17x9 SS wheels.

Two questions:
1)Would this be a standard swap without having to do any mods to make the 17x9 wheel fit the Z28?

2)What about shift points, the dealer said they would have to re-program the Z28 to match the 17x8 wheel?

There will be no problem... That's the set-up I have on my 02' Z.

The only thing you might have to do, if your tires start rubbing the wheel wells (depending on how low your car is) is get an adjustable pan hard bar. Its an easy swap. Can be done in your driveway in an hour or less.....but that is only if your wheels are rubbing. Sometimes when you lower your car your rearend has a tendency to shift to either side, but the adjustable pan hard will take care of that. If you do get the 17's, put some weight in the back, and hit a few bumps to make sure you dont have any rubbing.....

Do you have the Eibach springs with the stock shocks?

the tires will not rub with a 275 tire on a 17x9 rim.

1) no mods necessary. I have an SS that comes stock with 17x9 wheels. Our cars are no different when it comes to what wheels will fit. They will fit on your car exactly as well as they fit on my car.

2) Dealer is full of BS. Tire diameter for 275/40/17 is almost exactly identical to what comes stock on 16x8 Z28 wheels. No reprogramming necessary. Dealer is either a moron (suprise ) or trying to rip you off, or both!

I do get some tire rub on the inner plastic liner inside the wheel well, so I guess I have to disagree with bluestreak98. They do rub sometimes, but only when cornering VERY agressively. I believe the SS has a slightly larger front sway bar, so you may notice this a bit more, but for everyday driving, they will not rub.
