Default 15 Inch Rim Fitment Problems

Hey guys,

So i recently got my hands on some new rims. they came from the factory with a yellow lip but the entire rim has now been painted black. The rim has ben mounted on a BFG drag radial, 325/50/15. Heres the rim specs:

Wheel Diameter:15 in.
Wheel Width (in):10.000 in.
Backspacing (in):6.000 in.
Offset:+13.00mm
Wheel Construction:2-piece
Lug Nut Seat Style:Conical seat - 45 degree
Hub Centric:No
Center Bore Diameter (in):3.090 in.
Center Bore Diameter (mm):78.49mm
Wheel Bolt Pattern:5 x 4 3/4 in.

I have stock brakes in the rear. The rim hits the caliper when being attempted to be mounted on the car. I do not know if i can shave the caliper enough to fit the rim on. I do not however want to shave the caliper too much and loose its strength/integrity. The stock rotor diameter is 12.010 inches. I'm thinking a 11 inch rotor with new calipers would work GREAT. Cannot seem to find one though... I was wondering if any of you had advice on this problem or had a good solution. Thanks

Moser makes a kit they say should fit. Strange also has kits that fit although they are considered track brakes. If your car is a 93=97 Wilwood also has a kit. Good luck.

this is supposed to be for racing only but is used on the street quite a bit, it has no parking brake.

What wheels are they? Different style wheels will be made differently on the backside.

I run a 15x10 old school aluminum slotted wheel and use ls1 fbody brakes. I had to grind the bump out of the middle of the caliper to get them to clear due to axle movement in the housing from c clips.

15x10 with a 6" BS is not the right fitment for the F-Body unless you have your rearend narrowed. Should be around 7.5" BS with a stock rear.

Default Thanks Guys!

I knew it was the wrong backspacing when i bought them. My next option was ~$250 a piece weld or darkstar rims. these were $70 a piece. But the backspacing, I knew that the tires would stick out a little and thats okay. Tires will just be on for the summer. Tomorrow at 8 AM a shop is going to look at if they can grind the calipers down safely or if I will have to buy a smaller rotor/caliper, or even an entirely new rim all together. THe shop is pretty confident they will get the wheels to ft.

***UPDATE***

The rims do not appear to fit whatsoever even after caliper grinding. I could remove the rear brakes and have my tires on no problem at all .

My next step is to get a rim that fits right out of the box. I know Weld RT and RTS wheels do this so I will look in that direction. Keep in mind i need to find a rim that fits my 325/50/15 BFG Drag Radial. Looking into 15x10 rims with 7.5 backspacing or maybe a 6.5-7.0 backspacing if i can save a little money while sacrificing my looks a little. I also want a black Rim to match my current C4 ZR1 rims i have all around and they will be staying up front. If some of you have any knowledge on this or have done something similar, OR have pictures of a 15x10 Weld rim on a 325 tire, PLEASE SHARE.

I learned the hard way by trying to cut corners and buy a cheap rim. Now ill be having to pay extra in the long run to get rims that fit right. Live and learn

Currently looking into Racestar, Darkstar Rims for the rear.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/rce-92-510254dsd

15x10 Rim with 7.25 backspacing.

backspacing for stock look on a 10 inch wide rim is 7.5 so this will be pretty close. Ive read on a few other threads that the rims SOMETIMES require some grinding of the calipers. On the fins. How much grinding exactly do they require? It would be great to know before I order the rims. Again, the tires being mounted on are 325/50/15 BFG Drag Radials which are 28 Inch tall by 13 Inch wide. I could use a spacer if necessary to clear more if needed. I might need to BFH mod or roll my fender a bit but thats a different story. For now i need to make sure the damn rims fit! Car is a 98 Ls1 TA by the way.
