Default 17x7 front wheels for roadrace?

Just wanted to see what you guys thought about 17x7 front wheels for street racing and the occasional strip?

I'm torn between 17x7 or 17x9.5 front wheels

My application will be mostly agree so I need good handling

Thanks!

Dont know what car you have, but you (will not) have handling with a 7" wide front wheel with our cars. You'd be looking at a 245 wide tire for that. Factory mine came with 9" front 275. Now I'm running 18x10 295/35/18 BFG rivals squared.

Your car came with 17x9 275 squared. It's nose heavy and if you want to turn worth a dam just keep the wheel size you have and invest in better tires, adjustable koni's. Going smaller up front helps at the strip only, you cant have it both ways here.

I would personally go with the 17x7 wheels. I made the mistake of second guessing myself and going with the 17x9.5 Dark Star fronts instead of going with my guy and getting the 17x7's. Now they are for sale.

By doing this did you sacrifice steering?

C5Z rears all around are your ticket for that.

I never had the 17x7's. I planned on going that size, but at the last minute, bought the 17x9.5's. From what I've heard from others running 17x7's, they did not sacrifice steering.

IF you do not really care about turning left or right, or braking, and ONLY about going fast in a straight line, then why not go with the narrowest wheel Racestar would make up for you that you could still fit a 17" diameter skinny/'front runner' on???

7" = Smaller contact patch = less traction. If you are really trying to carve your car through corners you will notice. Only daily driving in stop and go traffic you probs won't see a change.
