Default 19" rims or not

I wanted to know what you guys thought about 19" rims. I saw some 19" ccw rims on here and they looked pretty good. But are they too big. I mean to me 20" rims are too big for my trans am, but how much more different are 19". Also how much would it affect the ride quality? Considering I would have to get a very low profiled tire.

It'll ride much rougher. Anytime you increase rim diameter and decrease your tire's sidewalls you'll transmit more forces to the car as opposed to a smaller rim and taller tire which would absorb a lot more forces thus less harshness.

Too big depends on your tastes. Some think 20's are just right, 18's are too big, etc...

IMO, 19's look cool especially with the right offset on a properly lowered car, but performance-wise its not a good idea. I suppose the ideal situation would be a set of 19's for cruisin', some 17's for RR/autox, and some 15's for drag racing

Yeah, I've got 19's on my car and it is lowered with sportlines so it rides pretty damn ruff. They look badass though which is really the point. They have great lateral grip but you can forget about launching the car from a stop, there is no sidewall to absorb the shock from the motor, they just spin.

My personal preference would be 18's. I have seen a few 19 inch rims look great on these cars (IE: The CCW rim), but it only works with certain rim designs and the car must be dropped. Ride quality will be a bit rough, but I like to feel the road. Go by what you like best.

i think 19s are just right, no bigger. the ride is very rough, and they dont hook up for ****. they do handle very well though. you should have a second set for racing.

I like 18s and 19s, I think 17s look ok, but I like the look when the wheelwell is filled with a nice looking rim. As willis 00 said, its a good idea to have a second set for racing and a nice set for crusing.

Instead of 19's maybe you could go with reverse-lipped 18's that use the center from a 19" wheel..

I did that on my 1969 LS1.. looked good.. Just an idea
