After playing around with a number of combos over the years, I now switch between three sets of tires/wheels to match the use:

1. Street/rain use: Nitto Invos wrapped around chrome C6 replicas

2. Road course track days: C5 Z06 Speedlines with whatever R-compound handling tire I have mounted on there (A6, R6, 555R II's, etc.)

3. Drag strip: Swap the road course rears out with a pair of C5 Z06 wheels with MT ET Streets.
He's got it.

Must be track prep then because I tried everything and the Nittos just plain suck for me.

Ive been debating between 555r and Toyo TQ.. seems like toyos hook better than nitto, but nittos are the safest..

Want something that will be safe to daily drive and hook...

I just dont like how the 555r seem small..

Track prep is a factor but I average 1.6 with regular prep in a n/a full weight f body. I think cars overall set up plays more of a roll than tire brand. With my basic set up nittos work for me.

Are you running this size (245/50/16) ? That would make sense then. I'm talking about 275/40/17...

275/60r15 Nittos on a friend's ls1 chevelle (228 cam and bolt ons). Same car as the one pictured once broke a 12 bolt axle on Nittos too.
