Wheel polish help
I have a set of polished zr1's on my camaro. Dont really know the history of thm but they are ruff and lacking quite a bit of shine. I notice what looks to be hard water spots around the spokes. Ive tried using some regular cutting compound on them with no reaults. What would you guys recommend for them to finally have the shine a polished wheel deserves

Are they polished and coated with a clear coat? If so you wanna treat it like you would your paint. Try clay bar or a more agressive compound.
If they're bare metal, use a dedicated metal polish.

Post up pictures if you can.
If they are uncoated polished aluminum use mother's billet metal polish and a power ball/cone. If you do not get what you're looking for, wet sand the areas with 2000 grit then 2500 then 3000 and finish with the polish and power ball.

My racestars are coated and when I polish them my cloth is black.
I'm also having the same problem with water spots. I've used mothers and white diamond and neither do anything for me. In on 1.

If you are just wanting some of the best polish on the market then I recommend Simichrome:

Get you some of these for a Dremel and maybe some bigger ones with a 1/4 shank if you have a die grinder:

I use to use this stuff all the time as a die builder. Simichrome is excellent polish and with give you a great shine, even though most more common polishes will eventually get the job done. You don't need to use/waste a **** ton of it while polishing. Just dab a little on your polishing pad at a time and then polish. Also use some TP to clean up where you polished.

I will never own another set of polished wheels but I have had good results with a DA polisher and some swirl removed followed by a polish. I have never been able to get a decent finish by hand or with a power ball ever. If you have pitting you might need to sand first then polish.
