Default WS6 trans am

I am thinking about buying a 98-02 WS6 trans am and building it for a street car. And I was wondering what is the widest rear tires you can put on the car without and modifications

I run M.T. street comp 315/35/17 tires with no problem.

Ive been running 315's for 15 years on my 98 WS6.

Only took a minute of banging the inner wheel wells with a hammer.

I'm putting new 18 x 12.5" rear wheels on soon with 335 or 345 tires. I think I did enough extra hammering for them to fit, if they rub I just have to bang a little more. Possibly use a 20mm spacer if needed.

These are my current 315's.....on 18 x 10.5" wheels. These are the same wheels I just had widened and re-chromed.

Hey man....how do those tires stick for street use? I need to find some good tires in 335/345 soon......

I was thinking of trying MT tires.

Didn't mount them yet as I'm replacing some 315 Nitto tires. They are not a very sticky tire as its a harder compound, but at a $135 per tire shipped I don't care.

If you're trying to race it then you want the smallest and lightest tire that you can get away with (aka the smallest one that will still hook for you). I made the mistake of thinking that i needed a 305 drag radial back in my cammed ls1 and it didn't help my ET. It was too heavy and was a lot of rotating weight for the car to move.
