Steel Wool????

I have a set of TT2s on my car and the front always seem to need polishing and now they are beginning to get some stuff that wont come off. Can I use steel to polish up the wheels and to try to clean them up a bit? Will it hurt anything?

I wouldn't use steel wool on the rims. What "stuff" is it that won't come off? By the way if you do use steel wool you'll scratch up the wheels pretty bad.

Do NOT use steel wool on wheels. Get some Mother's Billet, Wenol, Flitz, etc. and use a terry cloth towel or something like that to polish them up. When you are finished, wax/seal them.

I dont know what it is on the wheel it looks like its corroding it and looks like it may be pitting the wheel, the only thing I can think of is the brake dust. I didnt want to try the steel wool but I thought I would ask. Ive thought about Wenol, Ill get some and try that. I may just go and get the wheels repolished

If you want to try steel wool... make sure it is the finest variety. I beleive it is a 0000 and you can find it in Home Depot in the paint department by the spray paint and accessories. The more zeros, the finer the abrasivness. You can try the using the steel wool with a polish but be very gentle and try it on the back side of the rim first and see if the results are accetible.

Like they always say, try it in a spot that you don't see first. I would take your time and be very careful not to apply too much pressure.
