Tire Balancing & shaving
I believe the real cause is the tires are out of round. I drove the car around, jacked it up and checked the tires for out of roundness and they are between .030"-.060" out of round. This does make sense since most of them took a ton of weight to balance. At this point Ive given up on these tires/wheels and moving on to something else for now.
Now ive got new tires AGAIN on different wheels this time. Dinky 215/60R16 on steel wheels for my daily driver Camaro. I had winter tires on these wheels before and no vibration. These new tires measured approx .020"-.040" out of round brand new never driven on. Against my better judgement I drove on them anyway, figured the large sidewall will absorb most of it and it seems to be a trend for all tires to be out of round anyway... Still vibrations. Not that bad really, could almost accept it, 95% better then my first 2 sets of tires but still there.
So I guess long story short, does anyone know what is "acceptable" out of round numbers for tires? Does anyone shave tires to be truly round these days? Is it a common thing to do? I know no one in my area does it. Ive asked around and most have never even heard of it.
