Default Bump stops. Keep them or cut them?

Hey everyone. My bump stop mounts are rubbing on the inside of my wheels. I have a 2000 TA with Z06 wheels on he car and a small spacer so it's not a stock setup. My pro shop guy wants to cut the mounts off to stop the rubbing and is adamant that since I never have passengers in the back and rarely bottom out that I don't need them. I will attempt to post pictures , any and all opinions are welcome.

when i replaced mine, i got polyurethane ones. I didnt know if it was going to rub but I grinded down the outer edge of the bump stop mount to have extra clearance. The metal mount stuck out a little further than the actual bump stop so I leveled them up.

Thanks. Mine are rubbing. seems like some people are set on keeping them other say chop them off and don't worry about it. I'm not sure what the right decision is here. Not sure if there's any way to get enough clearance what does ZO6 wheel setup changing my offset.

No NOT cut them off. I bet you use them more than you realize. I had about the same contact, and I just ground off the rearmost edge, as that is what is hitting. Even then, it just hit the tire with the rear end hanging, which never happens on the street.

How can I keep them without the rubbing you see in the above pictures? 295s with a spacer on 18x10 wheels. Can the outside piece of metal be grinded? Anything adjusted ?

you don't even have bump stops in there to begin with, just the mounting flange so I say cut em off

I just trimmed mine down (running 18x10.5 with 315 tires) and elongated the hole on the bump stop to slide it in as much as I could.

I cut along this line and it added enough clearance.

BEFORE: Using the urethane Jeep bump stops, which I modified to keep the lip, and added a hole to soften.

AFTER: You can trim them with an angle grinder in a couple of minutes.
