Default c6 wheel fitment on my '99 TA questions

Guys, I snagged a near mint set of oem c6 wheels for 200 bux this weekend. What do I need to do to fit these properly on the bird? Reasearch indicates a 1.25 spacer on the rear and some even recommended a 1in spacer on front to flush it out a little.

Also what is the max safe size tires I can run on the wheels? I was aiming for 285 front and 305 rear but is that pushing it for these bad boys?

I got these for a good deal so I don't mind spending a few extra bucks to get them to fit right, also I do occasional track days and autox....thanks and Merry Xmas!

When I had my C5, I ran the C6 wheels I got with almost new tires for $400. I believe it was a 245 on the front and for sure a 305 on the rear, so I can answer at least half your question.

I, too, got an incredible deal on a set of OEM C6 wheels years ago. I decided I didn't want to go with a staggered look on the F-Body and ended up selling the front 18x8.5 and went with 19x10 all the way around. I went with 275/30/19 tires and soon discovered that was a HUGE mistake. A 275 is the smallest tire I would recommend for the 19x10's, but what made it so bad was the 30 series tire. There was simply not enough sidewall and the car rode VERY badly AND since the sidewall was so small, I couldn't get traction either. I didn't keep the C6's very long and went down to 18x9.5's all the way around and I'm actually back down to 17x9.5's all the way around. I've been on the stock 16's, then 2 sets of 17's, up to the 19's, then back down to 2 sets of 18's, and now I'm back on a set of 17's...yes, my 7th set of rims since buying the car new in '98. I believe the 17x9.5's are the best option for ride and traction on the 4th Gen. F-Body!

Anyway, back to your original question, the largest tire I would run on the front 18x8.5 is a 255 and they largest I would run in the rear 19x10 is a 295...you MIGHT be able to get a 305 on there safely. See this guide at the top of this forum for suggested fitments for rim size and tire size:
