Default Drag Radials on all four corners?

Guys,
I've had good luck with the Nitto DR's in regard to acceleration, but what about on all 4 corners? I'm going to buy some new 275-40-17's for all the way around and I was just wondering if anyone else had done it? Nitto offers a HP road race tire, but they say it gives a very stiff ride, so that's why I was looking at the DR. - Thanks for the help. - Tom

Nitto555RII's - Road Race tire do offer a stiffer side wall, better handling capabilities, but do suffer a little in the ride quality department. I have heard of guys running DR's on all four but mainly for road racing or AutoX duties and most generally running 315's on 17x11's on all four. Otherwise the 555RII's offer the same grip as the DR's. I don't think it would be a good idea to run DR's up front. If you want to, you can run the Nitto 555 Extremes up front and the DR's out back. A lot of people run that combo.

Why would you want to run DR's on all four corner's.

Default Good question

Well, the DR's are around $150 per tire, I know they stick good, and I know they ride good. I've driven with them on a 300 mile journey. Now, if I get 4 of the same tire I might be tempted to rotate them. So, Price, plus good ride, plus sticky tread, plus an occasional rotation, equals DR's on all 4 corners. Unless of course everyone on the board says, "Don't do it you idiot!" Then I'll have to think of something else. - Tom

I have 555Rs on all four corners (bought them before the 555RII came out). Also, bought them like that so I could rotate them. The car handles good, it feels different at first but you get used of it. I wound up switching to 315s in the rear so the 555Rs have been on the front for about 12,000+ miles with out any problems.

BTW: The 555RIIs are the same compound as the 555R just a stiffer side wall. These drag radials wear out so quick in the rear it's really not even worth rotating them, just burn the rears and throw them away. So I would suggest 555Rs in the back and 555RIIs in the front.

I have ran both the 555R and RII on all four corners. In a 17" tire, there is very little difference. The R's handle very well.

Yes that is a real Cobra R, modded with Hoosier R compounds.

I run the 555RII road race tires on all four corners and love it! Yes it's a kinda stiff ride but I have a fully built built suspension too so it's going to ride rough either way. They are great tires even for daily driving. They're just as good if not better in the rain as the F1's were on my WS6 too. I'll be running the same combo when these are gone.
