2000 Camaro SS wheel lug nut top snapped

2000 Camaro SS wheel lug nut top snapped 
I recently purchased a 2000 Camaro SS and noticed that the lug nut is broken off. Is this common and is there an easy remedy to fix this? I have not tried to take the wheel off yet.

Looks to me like a plastic chrome cap that is broken and is exposing the factory open-ended lug nut behind said cap. You could just break the remainder of the cap off, or try to grip it with some pliers to unscrew it. Either way, the actual lug nut is behind the broken cap.
