Default 315's on 9.5" *PICS*

Got my 315 nittos mounted on my 17x9.5 Y2k vettes today.

Here are the pictures.. with a before and after on the 315's.

As you can see they do bulge out, guy at the tire shop said they would be fine.. I did have to use a small spacer to clear the inner wheel well though.

Looks good. I have a similar set up and have to keep them at about 20-22psi to get them to wear nice and even. They'll hook great but take it easy in the corners.

the bulging doesn't look that bad...however unless it is just me only about half of the tire is touching the ground also those tires definatly look a lot skinnier than 315's but i guess that is normal with the nitto's

In the picture , the first one.. its unmounted with no weight on it... and only half is touching the ground.

They look much harder then my 275's did. When I had my 275's on... I drove 4 miles back to my house... dumped it at 4500 and they spun like hell until warm. Did the same thing yesterday, dumped it at 4500, held it on the floor and it didn't even tach up and hit the rev limiter.. it hung at 4500, and then gripped like hell, and went.

Nope, but these hook better then the 275's. Therefore straight line performance has become

dont worry chump...they fucked up the first time and i ended up taking them to be rebalanced, and with the weights on the inside of the wheel
this is what they look like now, and they did NOT need near that much weight

Hmmm, 315's on 9.5" rims. If you check with ANY tire manufacturer, they will show MINIMUM recommended widths. AT minimum, a 10.5" rim would be needed to be safe with 315's. Good luck, and I sure hope you are only going fast in a straight line, as if you hit a roadrace or autocross track, it may get ugly real fast.....

The 315 Nitto DR's seem to hook waaaay better than the smaller sizes. 3 years ago I had some 255/55/16 BFG DR's that I used for track duty and some street use. With the 4.10 gears I could haze the BFG's pretty much at will on the street and launching with them was a joke at best. With the Nitto's, I immediately noticed how much better they worked on the street WITHOUT even heating them up. Obviously the size difference in contact patch alone makes it an unfair comparison, but I was truly impressed with the difference.

Good luck with your 315's.

Mike

fwiw: I had nittos, and bfgs.. bfgs hooked so much harder, than I couldn't even spin going into 2nd, and I'd hook launching at 2500+. The nittos I had wouldn't even allow me to leave the line at 1800 without blowing them from start to finish.

The tires look good man.. don't listen to the haters, those actually look fairly regular.. There is MUCH MUCH MUCH worse going on in your stereotypical hispanic vehicle

Peace,
Josh

Looks Good! The GSD3's run large and even Todd @ Discount Direct has said he warns his customers buying these tires as they run so large. When I was having my 285 GSD3's mounted I compared them to a Nitto 555R 315 in the shop and it was almost identical in width to my 285's. I wish I would have taken a picture of them side by side.
