Just think about not paying attention while making a routine turn into your neighborhood. Accidentally get too close to the curb and bam. $1000 wheel ruined on a routine, mundane driving outing. I couldn't live with myself if that happened, that's why I went cheap with a proven setup.

The great thing about 3 piece wheels (Kinesis, HRE, Fikse) is that you can have the outer hoop replaced if that happens. You could also have the wheels rehooped if you wanted to change b/s or go wider/skinner.
