Default Tires or torque arm

I have the stock 16" factory wheels ... replaced the 245 Goodyear stock tires with 255 Khumo's. There is not much difference in the grip that I can feel ... between the stock tires and the sticky Khumo tires. I'm installing a 3200 stall converter. Which will help me more with my serious traction problem ... 18" wheels with Nitto's or a non-adjustable aftermarket torque arm?

For traction, get the nittos.

If it's traction you're after, get the TA. If it's looks and handling, get the 18s.

for traction, i am going to say tires. i have the same set of wheels (16" camaro rims on 245 GS-D3's), and the traction is nothing compared to my 15" convo pro's with BFG drag radials

Tires. Agree with above.. not sure 18's are the way to find traction. 15's maybe .

IMO, a TA isn't need in an A4 car untill you warp the stock one.

I went 10.92 on the stock TA.

From the options he listed, I still stand by my vote for a TA.

15" wheels/tires? ... wouldn't I be limited to tire width then?

That is the preferred size for drag racing wheels on our cars. You are not limited to tire width, unless you are going with something like a stock rim. Get some drag racing wheels, and call it a day if you're trying to resolve traction issues. You tell the manufacturer what size you want, and they make it. Plain and simple. 18s definitely won't help you- they're more rotating mass, and you wouldn't get the sidewall flex you'd want on a decent drag racing tire.

Well, due mostly to driveability, I'm getting two new GS-D3's for the rear . It's gotta' be better traction than the GS-C's and HPUltra Plus tires I've had. Anybody else got 'em?

For the 1/4, I'll just look for some 15" rims with DR's. I bought a Yank SS3600, so, I'll have to drive easy around town, I guess. With drag radials, I'll have to launch easy, as well .... so I don't break my rearend.

I run a 325/50/15 on a 15x10 rim. The tire is 13" wide. Thats pretty much pushing the limit before a mini-tub.

Hey man ... hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving and it's good to see you here. The GS-D3's do pretty good around town and they stick a lot better than the ones I had ... had them put on this morning. Of course, I'll have to be with the TC, anyway.

I was looking at 15" MT wrinkle-wall DR's, but, I'll still have to not launch too hard or I'll lose my 10-bolt pretty quick, I think. I'll probably try to go with about a 275 front width and 285 rear width.

You've got more power and a rearend that will handle a 315 width without breaking. After I buy the track wheels (used) and tires (new), I'll start saving for Moser, as well. Since they're so expensive, I won't be able to anything to my car for a long time, but, I guess I have to stop somewhere or keep modding, lose my rearend and be broke.
