Default 315s in back?

I ordered some 17x11 rims for the rear, and 17x9 for the front. Anyway, I have some brand new 275/40/R17 Ecsta Supras for the front, and plan to put BFG Drags on the rear. The problem is, the front tires are going to be a full inch taller than the rears!

What have you guys done to solve this? My guy at discount says there are no front tires avail with a smaller profile to match, in the 275 width. He says a 245/40/R17 would be perfect though. But I doubt I could swing a 245 tire on a 9" rim. I think it would look jacked up.

I am wondering what other people with 315s in back are doing. Thanks!

What the hell are the guys telling you. Get 275/40/R17 tires. Goodyear,BFG, ect they all make tires in this size.

I assume the rears are 315/35/R17

If you still have problems or questions PM me.

Yea, thats what I have, 275/40/R17, Kumho Ecsta Supras. You are also correct on the rears. The issue is, according to the computer at Discount Tire, the front tires are a full inch taller than the rears. (40 sidewall vs 35 sidewall on the back).

I have the same sizes and to tell you the truth I don't notice any difference driving and can't tell any difference looking at them so I really don't care.

I just went to the calculator at discount tire direct, and put your tire sizes in there, and it is only .01 sidewall height difference between the two! Those two sizes are perfect! 275/40-17 front, and 315/35-17 rear! your money!

BTW...here is the link: http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...foTireMath.jsp

275mm/25.4cm=10.82"x0.40= 4.3307" x 2(sidewalls)= 8.66" total sidewall +17= 25.66" tall
315mm/25.4cm=12.40"x0.35= 4.34" x 2 =8.68 +17= 25.68" tall

they are the same size, there may be very very sligh variation due to tire brands

Wow. I just checked out the calculator for myself. That is great!! I don't know what the guy was doing...must have been punching in 45 instead of 40. I told ya he didn't know what was going on. ;-)

Anyway, ls1tech to the rescue Thanks!

Now if someone could just answer my other question in this thread. (What is difference between BFG Drag Raidals, and the BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KD's)

Drag radials are really for straight line racing......soft sidewalls and soft compound tread. The KD's is more of a street tire and will give you longer life.

A good compromise is Nitto DR's they have the stiffiest sidewalls out of all the Drag radials. And they actually handle through the twisties pretty well. But avoid the std Nitto's I heard they suck.

The drag radial that i have the hardest time putting on a rim because of the stiffness of the side wall is the newer tread bfg drag radial. i agree with you that the regular nitto 555's wont hook up at all.

I have KDs and they have worked out good. They wear pretty good too. As for hooking up Im not too sure yet since I haven't been to the track or done any racing since I put them on. Ive heard they do ok though
