Any one ever have there Rims Cut and made wider?
I was wondering if it is possible to cut the factory rims and weld in an extention so that the rim would be more like 16x10inch verses the factory 16x8? And how much it would cost to have someone do that on my factory 99 TA rims?
I don't really want to get a bigger and heavier rim because I have heard peeps say that it slowed them down due to weight and rotating mass, so I was thinking just have my factory 16s widened. What do you guys think?

I talked to a place about widening my rims and they said $200.00 to widen two rims. They can only increase the width up to two inches. I have the email saved on my work PC I'll get the info Monday.

yes my buddy had it done to his 93 ford lightning rims by Vaughn Machine in Monrovia, CA. They were widened from 17x8's to 17x11's and they did a spectacular job. Absolutly perfect welds and the rims are perfectly round. the added section was a very high quality billet aluminum too.
WS6.com has pics of T/A rims done by the same place...

I had my stock '02 WS6 rims "widened" to 11 in. by Vaughn Machine in So. Cali. also. Excellent, excellent, beautiful job. He cutout the spoke section and welded it in a 11 in. barrel. However, he said it was a REAL PITA and wasn't too wild about doing it again. Pix in link "homepage here", pix about half way down.

Screamer, he charged $250 per wheel, which included the cost of the 11 in. barrel. After I got mine back and saw the killer job, I asked him if he would do the front wheels. Not widen them but to "match" the appearance of the 11 in. ones. He said "Let me think about it and call me when pigs fly. It's too much of a PITA." If you call, please don't mention I sent ya!! BTW...you got one CLEAN ride.
