Default How will this affect my car?

Ok heres the deal...

I need new rears. I am currently running 265/30/19s in the front and 275/30/19s in the back.

I wanna go WIDER in the rear. Now I was originally planning on doing 295/30/19 but soon found out that the only company that makes that size tire is Michellin and Pirelli and they are DAMN expensive...WAAAAYYYY more than I want to pay. Not only that, Ive also realized that having a tire that low pro makes it easier to bust the sidewall if i hit any potholes and such and pinch the tires (I have BUBBLES in ONE tire, thing looks like its ready to burst).

If I go with a 35 or 40 profile on tires, not only do I have a better chance of not busting my sidewalls again, but it also opens up the door to a bunch of other good tire manufacturers that produce tires in the 285-315 range with the new height.

So my question is: Will having 35-40s in the rear and 30s in the front **** up my car in any serious way?

Not really. It may throw your speedo off ever so slightly, but not enough to be overly concerned with.

Cool...i mean I plan to eventually change the front tires too...i definitely wanna do 275s in the front, and when i do change, i'll even out the height then...its just that right now...i have so much money locked up in other place, I really can only afford to change the rears (which are the ones that are about to blow anyway).

Thanks for the info.

Thanks bro, still workin on her...

Put a billet grille on 2 weeks ago and spent 4 days goign over the whole car with my Porter Cable 7424...removed as many swirls as I could, polished, layered a coat of synthetic wax and a coat of carnuba wax on top of that. Results were awesome, but lasted about 24 hours as the cruise that I went on the 5th day ended up pourin.

Pickin up an SS Hood next week, dunno when I'll get it painted and mounted though as I have some tires to buy first! I think the fatter and wider tires are gonna make the car look more agressive, so im actually lookin forward to that.

yeah i dont think you are going to have any problems going with a taller tire other than making your speedo incorrect. but you could always pick up a used HPP3 on the board to correct that. it should give you a better ride too. the only thing i can think of is possibly having less shock travel before you hit the fender. but i am not sure what kind of springs/suspension you have. but i don think that will be a major issue anyway. go for it.

like the car, should look killer with a SS hood. what rims are those? sizes?

The rims are Axis Supermesh 19 x 9.5s

Looks like im gonna eventually go with a 285/35/19 tire.

ABS probably will not like the front and rear tires being different in height.
