Default 17/18" combo on a camaro??

im thinking of going with a 17/18" combo with chrome y2k wheels on my 02 z28. i have silver gm zr1 wheels now, and im thinking of going with chrome. its gonna be between a chrome zr1 or chrome y2k wheel. if i go with the y2k wheels, i kinda wanted to look into doing the 17/18" combo like the vettes have. any opinions on what this would look like? does anyone have this on a 4th gen camaro.....preferrably an ls1 camaro?? i thought it might look a lil awkward, but it doesnt look awkward on the vettes, so maybe it wouldnt on the camaro. anyway, id like to hear opinions on this idea...cuz im still stuck between chrome zr1s and y2ks. thanks fellas. u can see pics of my car now in my sig.

I personally do not like it since hte sidewall hieghts on a Camaro would be different, where as on the Corvette the tire heights are different.

I've got ZO6 wheels and I like the 17/18. The fronts do have a little bit of a tall sidewall. I think it's 40 in front, 35 in back. I like the look and it's nice to have nice big, sticky tires out back.

I have a 2002 camaro Z28 with Z06 17/18 combo.
I have all 4 wheels off the car.
The size are as follows: 265/40/17
295/35/18

Side by side, they are about 1/4 of an inch difference.
so the tires are the same height.
The only difference is the sidewall of the tire of course.
On the 265 tire the sidewall is taller than the sidewall on the 295.

I have a few picks if you want, send me a PM
and I will email them to you. You can then decide for yourself.
I have pictures of all combindations from the same
vantage point.
17/17
17/18
18/18

So you can compare them all.
Personally I think I am going 18/18 if I find a pair of Z06 rims
for a good price. Otherwise I am staying 17/18. since I do
not rotate my tires, there is no need to have them be the same size.
That's about the only drawback I can see of having different
sizes on front vs. rear.

There might be a slight difference in handling. I am no expert
at corner carving. Someone else might know handling wise
what combo is better.

later.

Here's a pic of my SS with the C6 wheels -- 17/18 combo. We put the BFG g-force T/A KDW tires on them, front size 255/40R-17, rear 275/35R-18. I think it looks great, and the car handles like a dream!

i've got a 17/18 Z06 combo on my SS, i like it fine. but if i had it to do over again, i would probably do 18x9.5 in the front instead of the 17x9.5's i have now. the only reason being, i like the way the 18's look in the back. but its all personnal preference really, check my webpage in the sig for some pics.
