Do screws affect tires?

Do screws affect tires I have a set of e.t drags Im wanting to sell and they were screwed to rims.Do they have to be screwed or could someone mount them without screws without issues? On rims that are not drilled of course.Any feedback would be appreciated.

I ran some 28's all last year that had been screwed by the prior owner but not by me... If they used proper rim screws they barely protrude if at all.

Re: Do screws affect tires Im guessing your talking about bead locks. Just make sure your get the right ones. Dont buy an inch long screw. Who ever mounts your tires should have bead lock screws to sell, we offer them for free. Also dont go over board, i have seen people come in with 15 screws in each side. You dont need that many. Also if you use the wrong screws your tire pressure will go down, or pop your inner tube if you have one. When taking or putting the tire on and off the wheel, the screws will be taken out.

Re: Do screws affect tires No tires never had bead locks.I bought tires from Jegs along with set of of 15x10 warriors they mounted screwed and balanced 6 screws per side of tire.Made 5 passes on tires stepping up to bigger meats want to sell old rubber.

My used Hoosier slicks were screwed, and I have had zero problems with them.
Now in most cases the screws barely protruded from the tire, and the tiny holes were far away from the bead where all the sealing is.
You have to exercise common sense when evaluating the tires.
NHRA reccomends 8 per side, any more than that is over kill.
