I like the color, but the size isn't very mean. Fatter tires in all black would be a lot better, but hey, you have a budget, I understand.
I'm thinking of painting my TTII 9.5/11" in all black. I think it would look mean. Folks already say my car looks like the batmobile. Here's my photoshop ideas:
The only thing about all black rims is that it might give you a "someone stole my hubcaps" look. So many tuner cars look like that, I think people know that TA's would never use hubcaps, so I'm hoping no one would think that. I've seen all black porsche rims and they look freakin mean, because you know porsche's wouldn't run around with missing hubcaps. I think I would be OK.
Do you have advice on prepping them and the paint to use? How have yours been holding up?

Jason , your t/a look mean as hell!!! Wish i could get rims that wide.
As for the questions on how to paint them, if your starting surface is chrome, sctuff up the surface with some sandpaper , not a lot though . Then primer, paint , clear ... easy as that. I've painted 5 sets of rims, none show any signs of fade.
I use rim paint from advanced/ pep boys, and high gloss engine paint works very well too.

I'm working with polished aluminum.
Do you have to scuff them up to get good adhesion? I was hoping I could return them to polished later on if I changed my mind. With paint I could strip them with paint remover which is pretty easy compared to powdercoating.
Do you use enamel primer, paint, clear? How many coats of each would you recommend?
