Fix a flat?

Fix a flat?
Looking for the best kind of fix a flat I can find. I no longer have a spare tire or jack so I'm just going to run with some fix a flat and a mini compressor. I hear some stuff called tire slime works pretty good so I was thinking about trying that. Any suggestings?

I have a can that says "fix a flat" ... not sure on brand.... really does it matter?
If you use any kind of fix a flat your tire is junk.... the way I look at it... fix a flat is to get me within the 100 mile tow distance that my AAA gold (or whatever they call it now) provides

Before I had my license my parents took my car to walmart for tires (that is another story in itself) but I have free road hazard. All I will do is use this "fix a flat" to help get me back to wally world for a free tire. I also have towing on my insurance so if I have a blowout I will just call a tow truck. I kind of like the green slime cause it is the only one I have come across that isn't explosive.:o

I would never use fix a flat. It eats away at your tire and can mess up your wheels. I've seen it happen several times and I think it is more trouble than it is worth. I think most tire shops would tell you to never use the stuff... I guess if I were stuck and had no other option then it might be the only time I would ever use it

What does it actually do to the tire and or wheel? And has damage from the product been verified for the current formulations. As far as I can tell by reading the label, the current formula is not flammable.

It eats away at the finish on the wheel with can cause rust and other problems depending on the wheels you have. For instance the last time I came across a problem was on a set of chrome wheels. The fix a flat ate away at the chrome and caused a lot of rust to the point where a new wheel had to be ordered. I wish I still had the wheel or a picture to show but I didn't think about it at the time. I'm not sure what brand was used or what is in the mixture that causes the problems but I've seen it and heard others say the same thing. I bet if you googled you could find more info. Best bet is, if you have to use it get the tire taken care of quickly and make sure to clean everything very well after you dismount the tire.

If you want to try to have the tire fixed, the fix-a-flat ruins that idea, I know alot of places dont patch tires or plug 'em anymore, but they wont even think 'bout it with fix-a-flat!
