Default Why the big price difference on AL wheels

Why are the prices so different for an aluminum wheel from AR or Boyd to Fiske or iForged? Is is the grade of AL or the process?

I know with the iForged there are two piece and three piece. So, I can see the 3 piece being more expensive. How are the two pieces constructed? Like AR where the two pieces are welded together?

And how is CCW constructed, once piece that is CNCed or is it two pieces?

Most wheels are more then one piece. There are advantages and disadvantages between them. One piece...Cost is probably #1. It certainly is more expensive from a material standpoint as well as a machining time to build a one piece wheel. Tolorances i.e. runnout etc can be tighter regarding a one piece design. Disadvantages would be...bend or damage a one-piece wheel, you now for the most part have a large "paperweight". 2 and 3 piece wheels can have interchangable components. For example in our case (we use 2 and 3 piece designs), damage a part, we can fix it rather easily at a minimal cost. Strength variences cannot be equated equally between bolted, welded or one piece designs...do not base your purchase solely on the fact you believe one will be stronger since it is welded or one piece design.

There are many processes to building wheels...even between any of the pieces you've mentioned. Some just bolt wheels together, some are welded and bolted, some just welded, some need additional reinforcement. It all depends on the type of wheel, and it's intended purpose.

Prices vary between products due to a variety of processes designing the wheels and materials used...company to company prices vary of course. I cannot speak for other companies regarding costs, but rest assured, our products are worth every penny you do get what you pay for....a quality product with backed up customer support.

hope this helps,

Steve
