Default Tire Setup, 315s All Around!?!?!

Okay guys I've got most of my suspension set up besides tires. I'm going with some revalved Bilsteins (if any one knows of someone that does this please notify me) or Konis. For swaybars I'm going with the 37mm Hotchkis. Now for the Tires. Im going with 275s all the way around at first. If I visit the track frequently and have traction problems I'm gonna step up to 315s all the way around. Okay I'm in between BFGoodrich KDs and the Eagle GS-D3s. What would you guys suggest and what do you run, and whats your feeling on those tires?

Strano does revalved bilstiens, he is a sponsor. And the GS-D3's are pretty much the best of the best of street tires.

I do not think those Goodyears 315 will fit the front without severe rubbing. I have those tires in the back and they are super super wide.

I know the BFGs will fit because my old neighbor has them all around on a camaro. He had to make a custom front end and fenders but he says the Trans Ams have wider fenders and they should fit right up without too much hassle. I have seen it done on a Firehawk so I know its possible.

DAMN! 315s in the front seems like it would be a pain for anything other than the strip. The widest I'd go in front is 275, but might think about 295. Besides, the front wheels won't help to much with traction issues anyway...

Naw, I think that 315s are too wide for the front. I have 17x9 firehawk wheels and 275/40 Yokahamas and they barely touch the inner fender when I am turning. 315s.....no way, they woud rub like crazy IMHO.

Cal and mitchntx are the two guys being talked about with 315s all around. PM them for more info. Also get with Sam Strano, he'll steer you in the right direction.

I run 315's all the way around, but only for auto x. It looks like a tank coming down the road. My car is lowered 1.5 inches and they do not rub at all. They fit better on the front then on the back. Wheel offset is very important to make them fit. I also run CCW wheels.

do you have any pics maxx?

What specs on the rims are you using?

I'm kinda interested in running 295/315 or 315/335.. I would just do it for the hell of it, but my car is on a diet and is loosing much weight around, and corners are getting a bit intense on my stock 245 daily driving tires... so if the staggered steamroller tank look can help i would be more than happy..

The wheels are 17x11 but I am not sure of the offset. CCW can give you all the info. They fit great and with no spacers. One thing about 315's in front is youi will feel evry little gap in the road. Wants to pull the steering wheel from side to side.

****.. that looks mean.. but i still don't know.. a set of classics will go for 1800 aprox don't they?

the thing that really backs me up from doing it is that my car is a drag street car, so i can't really lower ir that much and 3XXs on a 4x4 camaro would look kinda nasty...

on the other side.. 335/35/17 is a 26.2 diameter tire.. considering i'm getting 4.10s on my A4, that would help keeping the revs down a bit more..

17x11 CCW Classics all around, but *only* 315's

I use them for autocrossing solely. If I had them on the street, they'd wander around too much through dips in the road. You don't really want 315's up front for a street car. 275's do a good job of both looking good, and not pulling your steering wheel all over the place as much. You also don't want them for drag racing. Too much rolling resistance.

I use 5/16" spacers and longer studs up front so they don't rub on the spindle.

Im with u. I would like to go 315's in the back. I think 315's in the front would be too harsh on the steering components, ball joints, etc. if u ask me. Also the car will bill wondering all over the raod way too much. Plus it would look awkward from the front IMO.

the CCW 's are real nice but pricey. I went with AFS ZR1 rims 17x11 on all 4 with the 50mm Grand sport offset in the rear and the 84-88 vette 38mm offset in the fronts. No spacers needed. With the CCW's at 50mm on all 4 corners we needed a spacer in the front to clear the casting nub on the riser.
PS the 315 front on the street suck, following every rut, but they rule on the autox track

I run 315 all around also. Started for open track days, but I loved it so much I keep them on for the street. Like TXA wrote, 315 will slow you down with all that rotating mass. They will also throw more mud and stones against your door and fenders. I've got OE Wheels ZR1 knock-offs 17x11.

I use spacers in front with arp bolts and cut the riser also. Rear required surgery to the bump stops, inner fender and lip.

Ideal setup for me would be 315 Nitto II in rear and 275 Nitto RII in front for the street. I just dont have the cash for matching 17x9's. Anyone want to trade?
