Default Chrome VS Polished

How much more effort is involved in keeping polished rims looking good? Are there any products out there that help protect either finnish better than others. My car is a daily driver pretty much 365 days a year in all kinds of inclement weather. Any previous experiances or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I personally like polished better because I used to have a set of chrome rims on my first truck and they rusted real fast. Chrome rims look good as long as to treat them right but like Cop Car said Polished doesn't pit or flake or even rust. As long as you keep them treated they won't tarnish or discolor either. I've heard of people talk about Zoop Seal and Flitz but I've never tried them personally but I've heard some good things about them. They're suppost to protect your polished stuff against the elements and keep them from tarnishing or discoloring. I you want to read about them here are the sites www.zoopseal.com and www.flitz.com.

I liked my polished wheels. If you polish them everytime you wash the car then you won't have to do it for very long. I kept mine up well enough that I could spend just 10 minutes and they looked great. I got to the point where I would let them go for a month and polish them and after 20 min I was done. BUt I kept up with them. If you aren't going to maintain the wheels then go with chromed.

i bought polished because my chrome WS6 rims were peeling. They are not that hard to maintain, just have to meticulous about it.

How do you get rid of stains/discoloration on polished rims?

a really good polish should take care of the stains. Sometimes you need a polish that is a little more abrasive then finish off with a finer polish. I've wetsanded my wheels too and they looked a lot better after I did it.

Here is proof that chrome is better.

The previous owner put on 3 chrome wheels and 1 polished. They are all the same wheel, just one has a polished finish. My beater was broken last winter so I had to drive my TA durring the winter, so they have all seen some weather. They all get washed and polished just as often, and the polished one looks like **** while the chromes come clean.

Not to mention chrome looks much better to begin with.
