Default Plug a drag radial?

Is a putting a plug on a drag radial a good idea. I got the biggest bolt i have ever seen stuck in there. They still have a good amount of life left. Should i patch it instead?

Patch-plug it. Seen it done many times--long as it's done professionally you should have no problems. They remove the tire from wheel and grind up the inside to accomodate the patch and pull the plug end thru the hole from the inside-out. Long as the hole in the tire is not TOO big, it'll work just fine. WJ

I patched a hole in my BFG's from a nail. I never had a problem with that tire.

get rid of the tire, how would you like to blow it out wen going down the drag strip. it woldn't be fun. if you had normal street tires i would say fix it. if you have the money get a new tire, if not you could fix it, and if you do put a plug patch in it.
also how big is this thing, it could be too big to even fix.

coming from someone who does this for a living, as long as the whole in the tire isnt more than a 1/4" (basically if you cant see through it) you can have a decent tire shop use a combi-patch (the plug patches the guys above are talking about) and itll hold up fine

just dont plug it, bad things happen to plugged tires

There's your answer.

Instead of using the good combination patch on my BFG DRs...

I used a plug, and the tires are now my burnout tires. The plug has pretty much worn itself into the tire (which is it's purpose). But I still wouldn't drive down the highway, or the strip with it.

It's just asking for trouble man.
