Default Nitto DR's. Do they work when cold?

Will the Nitto DR's help with launching w/o heating them up?
There are times when doing a burn isn't practical, and I would like to get more traction then my stock tires allow. It seems that since they are wider, softer and with fewer voids that they would.

I'll probably be getting Nittos in the spring, and I'm anxious to see what people have to say in this thread. My guess is that even cold they will hook better than street tires, but not by much.

Well, they are better that ANY street tire when the weather is warm, even without burnout / heating them up. But when the weather is cold ~ 40 degrees or less, they aren't going to be much better than street tires... SPIN, SPIN, SPIN, LOL... Not sure what you mean by cold. cold as in no burnout - OK if weather is warm. Cold as in cold - like 40 degrees - Nittos will still spin about like street tires...

Thanks for the info guys. Yeah, I meant w/o doing a burnout rather then the air temp.
And man, you are right about cold air temps ruining traction. I have a mild stall by most standards, fuddle 3000, but even with that forget about a good launch out of the hole. And I have 2.73 gears!!

Yup, even with the 2.73s, a stall will really liven them up and make it hard to get traction. Go with the Nittos.

nittos work great when it warm and the roads are warm but as soon as it gets cold it seems like them slip more then stock f1s haha

now if you wana tire that hooks nomatter what get the MT ET street radial...these tires hook even when it cold

im not talkin dropin the clutch at 4k on the street hookin but punchin it in first gear and not spinnin even with 390 ftlbs of tq and 411 gears and the most you get is a small cheap 1-2

What he said^^^. My Nittos were completely useless in less than 50 degree air temps, regardless of burnout length, and actually got worse as they wore down.

Try lowering the tire pressure and they will hook alot better. And forget about driving them when it's cold out. Spin and spin we go....worst than stock F1's

ive always heard that nittos needed a gooood burnout to get them to work. i spin them at 5500 for a good 6-7 sec. before releasing the brake. the apst few weekends here in AL its been in the 40's and ive been cutting 1.80 60's in my t/a mods in sig. tires have 17psi cold in them.
