You will have to do all this tho if you want those rims to look like they used to... Its a lot of work but its worth it
Doing it this way also seems to help maintain the shine a lot longer. I think the quality of the finish must lengthen the oxidation time.
It also helps not to drive in the rain with these wheels. That ruins the finish faster than anything else.
FWIW, I only polish my wheels about once every two months and they stay looking pretty fresh.
