Default Nitto DR in rear, what in front??

I really need new tires. Getting pretty low on the Dayton Daytona ZRs, and with the heads/cam, it doesn't matter what speed I punch it from, below 60mph, it breaks loose.

It's a daily driver, and a "work car" since I drive around a lot (automotive advertising sales for the local paper).

I've gone back and forth between Goodyear eagle F1 GS-D3s and getting Nittos.

I've finally decided (I think) on Nittos because I need the traction. I'm gonna get 245/50/16 from discounttire.com for $135/each with free shipping.

Now, what should I put up front? To save some $$, I'm thinking of BFG Gforce sports. $200 shipped for 2 from Tirerack.com. They seem to have the best reviews for cheaper tires.

Any thoughts? They don't make the Nitto 555 street tire in my size.

I've read a lot, and many people say Nittos are great for the street, and fine for a daily driver, but no one really says what to put up front.

Also, how many miles are ya'll getting out of the Nittos, all in town driving?

For a comparison, my stock tires, and my Dayton Daytona ZR tires both lasted 18k.

I did Nitto DR's on the back and regular 555's on the front, I can't imagine they don't have 555's in a 245/50/16.

They don't. It's wierd.

They have NT450s, but they're all season and suck.

Just be forewarned, the Nittos (especially that size) run extremely narrow in tread width. It may look funny as almost any tire you choose for the front (in the same size) will look wider than the DRs you have on the back. If this does not bother you than it's no problem, but it seems to bother some (most?) on here.

Yeah, that might bother me. But, what can you do?

I can't believe no one has responded who runs Nittos on 16" rims.

Anyone have pics?

You could look into Firestone wide ovals, they have an almost identical tread pattern as the nittos and also run narrow so that maybe a good bet

EDIT: Looks like they do have a 245/50/16 here http://www.bridgestonetire.com/tires...productid=1079
And here is the link to the actual tire http://www.bridgestonetire.com/tires...productid=1079
They are also rated right about the same as the 555's ineverything aswell

I have heard Nittos run narrow.

But, according to Nitto, overall width for the 245/50/16 is 9.8 inches

According to http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/asset...ForceSport.pdf , "section width" for the BFG gforce sport is 9.6 inches.

Maybe the BFG tires are narrow as well. Tread pattern is similar too.

Hmmm.... The firestone tires are $25 more/tire, but did seem to get much better reviews and tests.

My daily driver setup I run 275/40/17 Nitto 555's in the front and 315/35/17 Nitto 555R (DR)'s in the back.

Looks like your only option for a 16 is: 205/45/16

That might work, but I wonder what's the tread width on all of these??
