Are you going to get 17X11 rear TT2's? Yea, I've seen the price on the 315's and I've heard good things about those Sumitomo tires, I believe your talking about the HTR-Z's. A lot cheaper than any other 315 and good all-round performance.
What size front TT2's are you planning on running, 17X9's? If so then they would be the same size as your stock rims so the 285's should fit just fine.

285/40 17 fit fine on 17x9 and 9.5 wheels. 315 is not recommended on a 9 or 9.5 wheel. Sumitumo fits your critera - cheap. works. wide.

I've ran the Sumitomos on my 98 T/A back in '99 on some Enkei Win wheels. I just put them on the '01 T/A back in June. They're a decent tire for the price, especially if you don't plan on getting alot of miles out of them.

I don't get much traction with mine either, but that's what DR's are for. I'll just buy another set of Prostars if I start going to the track.

I had Sumitomo's on mine when I got them, they didn't hook for crap. I switched to 315 Nitto 555R's. $175 a piece from Discount Tire Direct, free shipping, no tax.

I also have the Sumitumo's. I think for the price you can't beat them. They seem to be wearing ok. Not to bad in the rain either. I actually pulled a 12.86 @ 109 and change with a 1.85 60'. For a street tire they are fine. For the track invest in some BFG's or the Mickey Thompson's. Just my .02.

I have had Sumitomo's and Dunlop 8000's (came with the wheels) the Sumis are a good all around tire and have wear good. The dunlops were awful. So far I have ~7K miles on the Sumis and they are looking good.. the dunlops were dead @ 9K. However, if you value traction more than wearlife get the 555Rs they out lasted the Dunlops that I had on my car.

I love my GS-D3's. But they are a little pricey. But well worth it.
