rims and salt=not good

so my nice chrome rims are no longer looking soo nice, yup thats right, there pitting pretty bad (cept its not soo ''pretty'')...is there anything i can do to fix this? would buffing or using a dremel help to get out the horrible black spots or am i just screwed? i need help!!!...or would i be better off just painting them black? i have always wanted black rims on my car

How bad? you could try some chrome polish like Never Dull, but if the chrome is 'bubbled up' they're done. Some pics would help us help you.

How long did you have em out in the salt? I had to drive my car back to school after the snow storm last week. It was a 4 hour drive and the roads were pretty salty. I washed em as soon as I got back. They look ok now but Im worried.

Hmmm...what kind of wheels are they?

There are lots of cars that come with OEM chrome wheels and survive several winters are still look fine. My '98 Seville has chrome wheels and they still look good after 7 years of MN winters and 80,000 miles.

I wouldn't worry about them too much.
