go to the sticky thread:"does this wheel/tire fit" on top of the wheels and tires section. then go to the first link, it should be discounttiredirect or something like that. This link takes you to a tire calculator. Your speed depends not only on rim size but also sidewall height.
hope that helps

i wish i could find a light 5 star 17in rim that didnt cost 3grand for a set. i would definatel get some fiske fm5 if i could find them.
i think i might go with a 17in rim because it wont look like a monster truck and tires are a lot cheaper when it comes to drag radials but im stuck with what would be a good rim to go with.
im a very picky person because i want to do stuff right the first time

When you go with a bigger rim and a smaller tire wall you will lose a good amount of traction. I ran the track before with my 18's and ran 13.0. When I threw on my 16's with drag radials I ran 12.4.
Kounsy - If you keep the overall wheel height the same then it doesn't matter. Actually going with a higher gear will make it harder to get traction off the start.

im at least going with a 17 inch wheel, i was looking into some ws6 wheels but cant really find any, i looked in for sale and ebay.
does anybody know and decently light wheels (5star pattern, no rivits). because im stuck and need guidance. i would get some fiskes but i would have to sell my other car and them some to get them.

Food for thought....every pound that you add to a wheel/tire assembly is the same as adding 7 lbs to the total vehicle weight. So if your new set of wheels/tires weighs 16 lbs more than the old set, that would be equal to adding 112 lbs of weight inside the car. (7x16=112)
Take this into consideration when looking to purchase your next set of tires.
All tires listed are in a 275/40-17
Eagle F1 GS D3 weighs......27 lbs
Firestone Wide Oval...........29 lbs
Avon Tech M500................31 lbs
Michelin Pilot Sport............28 lbs
BF Goodrich G Force KDW..30 lbs
So you see, all tires sizes aren't created equal. Just going from the heaviest tire listed to the lightest saves you 4 lbs. Saving 4 lbs per wheel/tire assembly is like taking 112 lbs out of the car. If you go with lightweight wheels, the savings and performance is even greater. If you go heavier, well.....

What the...I didn't think the difference was THAT big...
When I go from my stock 17x9.5 WS6 wheels and stock tires, to 18x10s with DR's I expect to lose quite a bit of ET, not gain...but how much would trap speed be effected?
