Default BFG Drag Radials?

Hey guys, just wondering what kind of life your getting out of your BFG Drag Radials? I was pretty much sold on the Nitto's but have been hearing good things about the BFG's so wanting to get some input on them. I know that the Nitto's wear decent but didn't know about the BFG's. They won't be going on a DD but it is a street car. I'm wanting to get the best traction without sacrificing too much tire life. They won't be drivin much on the highway or anything, mostly town driving.

One more thing, is their any difference between the two separate tread patterns on the BFG's?

I've tried searching but got hit and miss answers.

you are talking about the bfg gforce drag radial and gforce drag radial 2.. the drag radial 2 has been produced for a long time now, it used to be called the comp t/a drag radial.. the gforce drag radial is the newer one.. its suppose to have a better tread compound for better traction, im assuming that means you arent going to get as many miles out of it as the gforce 2.. it also has a bigger contact patch.. the pattern resembles that of kdw 2.. like if you see someone burnout out, it will be a thick black patch all the way across, rather than having channels in the tread marks.. and its also offered in 18" wheels sizes making it popular for z06 wheels etc.. they have a 295/35 and 315/30.. it really only makes sense for those of us with 18" rear wheels bc you cant get it in the popular sizes for the 15x10s some people run.. for that you need the drag radial 2.. if you are looking for a 315/35/17.. nittos last longer, bfgs have better traction.. if your looking for a 15" size, the drag radial 2's which again are the original and proven drag radials bfg has been making forever, are your best choice... its kinda confusing why they would call the new tire the gforce drag radial and call the old on the gforce drag radial 2

You'll get roughly 5,000 miles out of a set, depending on your driving habits.

You should get more than that, unless you just roast them all the time. I don't remember what I got on my last set but I bet I could get 10,000 miles out of a pair.

The average life expectancy of a set of Nitto 555R's is about 10-15,000 miles and they have a treadwear rating of 100. The BFG's have a treadwear rating of 0! Granted, our Z28 has a 3200 stall with over 400rwhp, but we have less than 3,000 miles on our set of BFG's and they are almost bald, with no track time at all.

That's kinda what I've been hearing as far as life expectancy. I won't be burning them much at all, mostly just easy town driving but want the traction when I need it. I figured that the Nittos would last a bit longer but knew that the BFG's would hook better. If I could get 10,000 miles out of a set of BFG's then that would be great. I'm either going with a 17" or 18" rear, not for sure yet but they'll be wide enough to hold a 315. On BFG's site, it just calls both of the tires G-Force T/A Drag Radials but I know which one's are which. Carado, you think that the DR 2 would have a better contact patch compared to the new DR?

What size do you want? BFG offers the GForce and GForce 2 in different sizes.

Well if I get a 17" rim then I'm gonna go with 315/35/17's and if I go with an 18" rim then I'm gonna go with a 315/30/18.

Another thing to think about is 18 inch tires are a hell of alot more then 17's. Thats why I got 17s instead of 18's b/c im cheap

If they are going on a car that sees the track alot and mainly that...I would get the MT drag Radials.... 02 ws6 with LT's, Duals, Lid, TB, F1 Cam, PT4000 and DEAD hook with a nice lil burn out. I got about 4 months outa mine and I daily drive mine. I'd say get these instead of the two above mentioned.

Yea, I was also looking at the MT's too. I know that the MT's hook best but I wasn't for sure as far as life from them either. So you got 4 months outta your MT's on a DD. Mine won't be a DD and will mostly be street drivin.
