Now, my brother has the 315 BFG G-Force KD's on his 17x9.5" Z06 wheels and they feel pretty much normal. he runs 35psi in the KD's.
i'd just run stock size up front, 275/40/17 and whatever you feel comfortable putting on the rear,

So what would be best then given a 10" wheel on the front?

EDIT: I just looked on DTD and it appears there is no NT555 in that size...and it shows the widest for a 17" wheel is a 285? Say it ain't so

Any comments on that last sentence? Do they really ride much rougher than street tires?

Good point on the weather. In Cleveland below 55 degrees, the Nittos are useless. Spin city through the first 3 gears. And yes the sidewall is stiffer on the RII but awesome at autox. Unless you have the budget for 8 tires and rims ( as most of us don't ) it's always a compromise.

check out the amount of tires and wheels this member has accumulated.
btw,
you can find deals on factory/oem repros for dirt cheap if you just look around.
I bought my 555RII's with AFS ZR1's for $830 shipped, had one auto-x seesion on them.
I then found a pair of silver ZR1's that matched my first set for $50, and a pair of Chrome ZR1's with nearly new tires on them for $200. and then I picked up a pair of Nitto 555's for $160 which were slightly used but looked very very new.
Now I am in the process of trying to find a pair of silver ZR1's to replace the chrome ones as I am not too fond of really shiney wheels.
Also, the RII's suck in the cold as well (just like the DR's I assume), very slick when they are cold, but after a few miles they feel normal.

I got the NT555's to match the 555r's out back and they look great together. The NT's are actually wider than the 555r's, but the R's do run a little narrower. Off hand do you guys know if you can plug a nitto 555r safely? If you get a nail, or screw in it . ....

I run Nitto 555rII's all around, pulled 1.004g on the skid pad with my suspension setup. They're actually less of a rough ride than my Firestone Firehawk radials, most likely because of the softer tread... 6k on them and still plenty of tread left.
