i think they will be fine...we have 275s on a 9" rim stock and they are right at the edge of the rim...they dont overflow at all really

i dont think a half inch is going to be killing anyone...go for it

If there were better trained people in their possitions at these national tire chains. This post would not exist nor would your worthless attempt at a funny comment (FLAWLS1T/A). Thank you (Xsta Z 28 and others) for your honest opinion to an honest question.

It should be fine. Why not get 275/40/18 instead?

Is the 275x40x18 the same outside diameter as a 245x40x18. I was told that the 275x40x18 is larger than the 245x40x18 and that it would throw an ABS light because of it. Not Sure, I will look into going with a 40 series all the way around.

Do not follow these peoples foolish advice . . .

The best tire for that wheel is a 265 or 245 . . . NOTHING WIDER!

People, what is to point of forcing tires beyond their design construction? ESPECIALLY on a 18" wheel!!! There is not enough sidewall.

And guess what? A tire that fails due to improper installation CAN KILL YOU!

Remember Ford and Firestone? Quite a few people died due to the incorrect use of the tires.

My 1994 Firehawk came stock with 17xeither 8 or 8.5" wheels (I can't remember exactly what width) and 275's on all four corners.

Yes they will fit...

Firehawk wheels are 9" . . . . .

Plus when talking about 17" diameter, is different that 18" diameter . . either way a 275 is NOT RECOMMENDED for a wheel smaller than 9" . . .

That information is NOT correct. The production ROH wheels that were made for the 1994 Firehawk were not 9" they were as i said, 8.5" if you not believe me, i even went downstairs and took a ******* picture...

Have you noticed lately though, that every question asked gets turned into a battle? It seems like people ask a legit. question and get **** from everyone. I can understanda sking a question that has been asked 100 times before, fine...use the search button before making a new thread...but when someone asks a good question everyone gets on their case. Hell, i'll probably be banned now for saying the "s-word" but it's getting crazy around here...it never used to be like this. This is a forum for information, not a place to get ridiculed for asking a question. Like i said, use the search button, if you can't find it there then ask...

In this dude's case, i answered his question and told i was wrong...so i justified why i was right, granted perhaps i should not have been as hostile with my reply, my apoligies, but still...c'mon guys we're all friends here.

We are all hear to learn . . . I learned that SLP did things different on older Hawks . . . I appreciate you educating me . . . I also apreciate the apology cause I felt your responce was uncalled for . . . and yes we are all freinds . . .

The hard thing here is people chime in about 17" tires in 18" tire threads, and things do not automatically translate . . .

Just becuase a 275/40ZR17 tire fit a 17" x 8.5" wheel. Does not automatically mean a 275/35ZR18 is going to fit a 18" x 8.5" wheel . . .

I only site manufacturer's recommendations . . .
